Do you run courses in the school holidays?
All our courses are staffed by volunteers so our programme runs on term time weekends – see the Courses menu for details.
How old do you need to be to do a course with NSSA?
When should I arrive for Youth courses?
Sailing days at Filby start at 9.30am (don’t forget to register on arrival).
What food is available?
Please bring your lunch with you (children on courses are not allowed off the premises). Please ensure that you take your rubbish home with you as the NSSA does not have refuse collections.
What to bring (Youth)?
Footwear that can get wet (e.g. old trainers), a towel, gloves / hat / sun cream / sunglasses etc. as appropriate. You will get wet; wetsuits and spray tops can be borrowed.

Footwear that can get wet (e.g. old trainers), a towel, gloves / hat / sun cream / sunglasses etc. as appropriate. You will get wet; wetsuits and spray tops can be borrowed. It is also worth bringing a change of clothes.
How cold is the water?
The water is generally colder than you think so it is always best to be prepared..
Will I get a certificate at the end of the course?
No NSSA courses guarantee an RYA certificate. Certificates will be awarded when all aspects have been completed to the Instructors’ satisfaction.
What time do the courses finish?
Please check with the Senior Instructor for finish times. The finish times for courses is usually written up on a board. Adult courses may finish later than youth courses.
