This non-residential course will take place over three weekends. It is both a training and continually assessed course. An external moderator will do the final assessment on the last day. Attendance at all three weekends is essential.
- The requirements for the Instructor course are
Pre-entry sailing assessment
- Powerboat Level 2 certificate
- Valid First Aid certificate
- On line Safe and Fun Certificate – See the RYA website for further details.
The sailing pre-entry and ‘Safe and Fun’ must be completed prior to the course. The other two can be completed after the course; however, your certificate will not be issued until they are in place. If you do not hold these two qualifications they can be completed through the NSSA.

On completion of the course your details will be sent to the RYA who will issue your DI certificate.
All newly qualified Instructors must be members of the RYA. (Follow the direct link on www.nssa.co.uk )
Pre-Entry Test – by arrangement
Please look up the details of the test and practice! If you don’t own G14 then you need to buy one. There will be some available on the day.
Arrive for 9:30am and bring usual sailing gear and lunch. The length of the test will depend on the weather conditions and how many participants we have.

There will be a limited number of places. On successful completion of the pre-entry please forward your application and membership as soon as possible. Places will be allocated depending on the number of applications, since if there are more than 6 a second training coach will need to be appointed.
The NSSA makes a charge for this course of £260. It is open to members only. (Membership is £45). You will need to renew membership for 2018 if you are an existing member.
