Youth blocks one to five are ideal for beginners, you can also work towards RYA stage one, two and three. Simply see which set of dates suit you best.

In addition, there are five specialist youth courses depending on your age, ability and interest. Click on the image above to find out more.

For adults the RYA National Scheme has great scope to continue developing your skills. Adult course fees remain unchanged; £175 for the beginner courses and £140 for all other modules. This price includes RYA logbooks. Click on the image above to find out more.

This non-residential course will take place over three weekends. It is both a training and continually assessed course. An external moderator will do the final assessment on the last day. Attendance at all three weekends is essential. Click on the image above to find out more.

About us

The NSSA is a registered charity, run by volunteers and trustees, many of them former NSSA trainees. These volunteers provide affordable, inclusive sailing courses and related activities. Our instructors, ensure the courses meet each student's needs and abilities.

NSSA is a sail training organisation, not a sailing club. It is an affiliate of the National Schools Sailing Association and is a Recognised Training Centre of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA). We have around 50 volunteer instructors and they are all RYA qualified.

To sail with NSSA at Filby you need to become a member. Membership is open to anyone over the age of 8 years. Membership for 2020 is £50. There is no further cost for Youth Courses. Adult Beginner courses are £175 and all other Adult Modules are £140. This includes any RYA Adult Log Books. The RYA Youth Log Book (G11) can be purchased through this website (RYA publications page) or when attending your course.
